Travelling About Fife

Travel Around Fife by Public Transport

Exploring Fife’s pubs doesn’t need a car. Travelling by public transport makes it easier to enjoy a proper day out, discover new towns and support pubs across the Kingdom responsibly.

Trains – The Fife Circle & Main Line Connections

The Fife Circle rail line is the backbone of travel across the region and a brilliant way to plan pub visits. Running from Edinburgh to Inverkeithing, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, Markinch, Ladybank, Cupar, Leuchars and Dunfermline, it links many of Fife’s key towns.

Fife is also served by the East Coast Main Line, giving fast connections north to Dundee and Perth and south to Edinburgh and beyond. This makes it easy to combine Fife with wider Scottish rail travel and plan longer pub adventures.

Buses – Connecting the Villages and Coast

Many of Fife’s best pubs sit in villages and coastal communities not directly served by rail. That’s where the bus network comes in.

Stagecoach East Scotland operates most services across Fife, whilst smaller independent operators help connect rural areas and local communities.

Traveline Scotland allows easy planning of bus journeys across all operators, and the Stagecoach app provides real-time tracking and maps for their services.

Go-Flexi – On-Demand Taxi-Bus

In rural North East Fife and West Fife, Go-Flexi provides an on-demand taxi-bus service. You can book journeys when you need them, making it much easier to reach pubs in more remote areas or travel home when fixed timetables don’t quite fit your plans.
